Tearaway Types is a new art studio in the South East. Created for artists, Tearaway Types aims to provide an open and collaborative space for artists, designers, or creative businesses with a space to work from in the South Eastern suburbs.

Based at 81 Warrigal Road, Hughesdale, we are super close to Oakleigh Train Station. We have kitchen and bathroom facilities as well as a shop front aside from the studio rooms.

The studios are set up to host two tenants per room. The rooms are open to the hallway and we have designed them this way on purpose. We feel that it’s important to foster an environment where people are able to see each other and collaborate within their community as they feel suits them best.

For this reason, we’ve left the front room (the shop front) empty of studios, to provide our tenants with a space to work outside of their individual studio spaces. We envisage Tearaway Types being a place where all types of creative people can work independently as well as alongside others. We feel it’s important to create an artistic community where people feel empowered and inspired to create.

If you currently work from home as a designer, are an artist looking to stretch your wings, perhaps are a photographer or videographer in need of space, or indeed any type of creative person or small business, we’d love to hear from you.

We are also open to renting the shop front/gallery space independently to people wishing to run creative programmes, such as life drawing classes.
