120 Spencer Street is MMBW House, designed by Perrott Lyon Timlock & Kesa and built between 1976 and 1979 as the head office of the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works. It runs to 22 levels.
The facade has a story attached to it. The tower was originally clad in bluestone slabs, which were poorly fastened and began falling onto the street below, and the stone was replaced with the anodised aluminium sheeting the building wears today.
Spencer Street is the western edge of the Hoddle grid, where the CBD meets Docklands. Southern Cross Station is a few minutes north, which makes this one of the better addresses in Melbourne for a team that commutes by regional rail rather than by tram. WeWork runs the workspace we list here.
