Ask our concierge →A 244-metre Art Deco-influenced tower at the top of Chifley Square, and for a period the tallest building in Sydney.
Completed in 1992 to a design by the New York practice Kohn Pedersen Fox with Travis Partners, built by Multiplex with WSP Flack + Kurtz as structural engineer. It was developed by Bond Corporation and Kumagai Gumi and originally named Bond Tower, taking the Chifley name in 1993 after Alan Bond's bankruptcy. A 400-tonne tuned mass damper hangs near the roof on eight steel wires.
The tower is owned in a fifty-fifty partnership between Charter Hall-managed wholesale funds and GIC, with Charter Hall managing the asset. It carries 42 floors of office space above the Chifley Plaza retail arcade, holds a 5.0 Star NABERS Energy and 4.0 Star NABERS Water rating, and has run on 100 per cent renewable electricity and been net zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2024. It is now being extended into a two-tower precinct alongside Chifley South, due for completion in mid-2027.
